Mourners lined the street outside Sackville Gardens to catch a glimpse of the vigil for Brianna Ghey, and to reflect. Hundreds had already poured into the park to pay their respects to the 16-year-old transgender girl, from Warrington.

Brianna was found with stab wounds at Culcheth Linear Park, where she was pronounced dead at the scene. A boy and a girl, both 15, have been charged with her murder and made a first appearance in court today (February 15).

Sackville Gardens - a place where members of the LGBTQ+ community have celebrated together and grieved together over the years - was more than half full.
