Bruno Fernandes has warned Manchester United's defeat against Liverpool has the potential to be 'psychologically damaging'. United suffered heavy defeats against Brentford and Manchester City earlier in the season and it seemed such losses were behind Erik ten Hag's improving side, but Sunday's performance against Liverpool at Anfield was a reality check.

"It can be [psychologically damaging] because we have a game on Thursday and the games are coming quickly.

We had setbacks in the past and we have to come back again because this is what Manchester United is about," Fernandes told Sky Sports. "We can go down but we have to get back because we know how good we are and today we didn't perform.
