The magenta polka-dot dress was an archive piece by Oscar de la Renta. Over the past couple of months, the Duchess of Cambridge has taught us a few key lessons about dressing sustainably.
First, there was the Alexander McQueen dress she wore to the BAFTAs, a design first seen in 2012, but with altered sleeves to make it au courant.
Then there were the very old re-wears, including a 16-year-old pair of Penelope Chilvers tassel boots, and in Dublin on Wednesday morning, a 13-year-old Reiss coat.
On Wednesday evening, she went a step further, arriving at the Museum of Literature Ireland in a vintage Oscar de la Renta dress, the first time she’s been seen wearing a designer archive piece that wasn’t a preexisting item in her own wardrobe.
