Owen Hargreaves hailed Mason Greenwood as ‘special’ after the Manchester United forward scored his fifth goal of the season against Young Boys on Wednesday.
The 18-year-old gave United the lead at Old Trafford with an acrobatic left-footed volley from close range, however Fabian Rieder equalised for the Swiss side shortly before half-time as the game ended 1-1.
United were already assured of their place in the last-16 of the Champions League as group winners, meaning interim boss Ralf Rangnick made changes from the side that beat Crystal Palace on Sunday.
Fringe players and youngsters such as Jesse Lingard and Amad Diallo were given an opportunity to impress, but it was Greenwood’s display that will have given Rangnick food for thought
