Supermarket giant Tesco has explained the real reason behind the difference in prices of items with and without a Clubcard. Last week, the retailer slashed the cost of cuts of meat by 50% for Clubcard holders - causing a shopper frenzy.
Tesco also reduced 1L bottles of Baileys to £9.50 from £20 for Clubcard customers - making them cheaper than those bought in ASDA, Morrisons, and Sainsbury's.
Around 80% of transactions at large Tesco stores in the UK now use a Clubcard - meaning non-Clubcard holders are a minority.
Yesterday, the Daily Mail found that a basket of branded products costing £42.40 without a Clubcard was slashed by almost a third after Clubcard discounts - being lowered to £29.22. READ MORE:UK's most hygienic supermarket
