The Black Friar pub has been a feature of the city centre landscape ever since I can remember. Left as the only building to survive the 1960s slum clearances in Black Friars, across the Irwell, it was always more of a symbol of decay than hope.
But all that's all changed with a £1.4m refurbishment that has allowed the Salford pub to rise from the ashes of two fires that left it in a dire state.
