Simon Phillip Cowell (born 7 October 1959) is an English television personality, businessman and record executive. Jake Slate, then 17, told his victim ‘I’ll stab you up now you little muppet' after whipping a large kitchen knife from the waistband of his shorts and ‘lunging’ at her during the spat last September.

A video showing the severed digit was circulated on social media in the wake of the violent attack, which happened in Hyde, Tameside.

Slate is now starting a lengthy sentence in custody after pleading guilty to grievous bodily harm and having a bladed article in a public place at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court.
