Tameside schools are now being ‘strongly advised’ not to reopen to more pupils this Monday after the council changed its mind in the wake of new Covid data for the North West.
Separately Bury council has written to headteachers suggesting they might want to ‘reconsider’ any plans to reopen to more schoolchildren after the weekend.This afternoon analysis by Public Health England and Cambridge University estimated the ‘R’ number - which represents the speed of the disease’s spread - to be just over the critical 1 threshold in the region, the highest in the country according to their modelling.
