That's the message from Denton and Reddish MP Andrew Gwynne following a difficult set of results for the party nationwide in last week's local elections.
A post-mortem was already getting underway for Labour before Tameside's council results were announced last Friday - with the party having lost the Hartlepool by-election and beginning to suffer poor results around the country.
But like other areas of Greater Manchester, the party bucked the trend in Tameside, losing just one seat to the Conservatives in Ashton Hurst.
