The Ross character appeared in five Marvel films, including The Incredible Hulk, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, and Black Widow, as well as the Marvel One-Shot The Consultant and the Disney+ animated series What If…?, the latter voiced by Mike McGill.

The 1980 comedy hit 9 To 5 came at a crucial turning point for women in the workplace. Star/Producer Jane Fonda explains in the new documentary of its creation and the movement that spawned it, that she and producting partner Bruce Gilbert wanted to do a serious film on the struggle women had endured for decades, but instead decided that to get anyone to pay attention the only way to do it was with laughs. Thus a smash hit comedy was born, initially with a screenplay by Patricia Resnick that as she explained was met with creative differences, and then later saw its problems solved when ironically a man, the late Colin Higgins (Harold And Maude) came in to write and direct the final film.

A grieving young woman takes a road trip in The Unknown Country, a realist drama at SXSW from director Morrisa Maltz. Fans of Nomadland should be well served by this thoughtful film that casts actors alongside real people playing themselves (or thereabouts).

Racial divides, mistrust and misunderstandings get a rambunctious, if understandably inconclusive workout in A Lot of Nothing, a dynamic and agitating feature debut by Mo McRae that had its world premiere at South by Southwest in the Narrative Feature Competition section. Layers of suspicions, animosity and aggressive feelings ebb and flow as an upscale Los Angeles black couple plays host to another couple and, unexpectedly, to a lower-class white cop who’s paying a price for what he did the night before. After a powerful first act, this turbulent work is obliged to downshift somewhat as it seeks some kind of conclusion that won’t be too pat or simplistic given the complex dynamics at hand. While it doesn’t end on a satisfying note, this is nonetheless an excitingly combustible piece that announces a vibrant talent unafraid to confront thorny issues head-on.

A political disagreement over the commemoration of Christopher Columbus has erupted into a four-letter tirade by Chicago’s Democratic mayor, Lori Lightfoot.A statue of Columbus – the Italian explorer who was for many years mistakenly believed to have discovered America – stood in Chicago's Grant Park between 1933 and 2020.The monument was removed in the wake of the George Floyd protests, after attempts to pull it down resulted in scuffles between protesters and Chicago police.But the removal of the statue offended member’s of Chicago’s Italian-American community who asked to use the Columbus statue in the annual in the Columbus Day Parade.But former Chicago Park District counsel general George Smyrniotis, says that Mayor Lightfoot vetoed an agreement with local Italian-Americans.He also says that Mayor Lightfoot insulted the lawyers that drafted the agreement, and even insults their credentials – asking them which law school they attended or if they even went to law school.In a lawsuit brought by Mr Smyrniotis, it is also alleged that the mayor used obscene language and called the lawyers “d***s.”The mayor allegedly told the lawyers: “You make some kind of secret agreement with Italians, what you are doing, you are out there measuring your d*** with the Italians seeing whose got the biggest d***."You are out there stroking your d*** over the Columbus statue," she added.
