Barbra Streisand has taken to Instagram to make a public apology after she commented on her friend and fellow actor, Melissa McCarthy's appearance, which sent the internet into a frenzy.To recap, Melissa posted a photo to social media on Monday of herself and director Adam Shankman at a charity gala in honour of renowned choreographer Matthew Bourne.The Little Mermaid star looked stunning in a pastel green tulle dress and suit jacket as she posed for the picture.
Upon uploading the snap, plenty of her fans – and famous faces – flocked to the comments section to gush over her look. One of the celebrities to respond to the pic included EGOT winner Barbra Streisand, who made a controversial statement that didn't go down well with fans.
The 82 year old said: "Give him my regards did you take Ozempic?" – a treatment originally designed for diabetes patients, but rumoured to have been used by some Hollywood stars to help them lose weight.
After receiving a slew of backlash over the comment, the Funny Girl star quickly deleted the comment. But, it was up long enough to generate a reaction from Melissa's fans. "Omg somebody please teach Barbra Streisand how to send a DM," one person wrote, as another typed: "I'm so totally taken aback that you could ask her that on Social Media for all to see?
