It’s competing against “Deadliest Catch,” “Life Below Zero,” “RuPaul’s Drag Race: Untucked,” and “Welcome To Wrexham.” When news broke during the airing of the show’s 10th season that castmates Tom Sandoval and Ariana Madix had split amid Sandoval’s ongoing affair with fellow co-star Raquel Leviss, cameras quickly began rolling to capture the fallout. The quarrel shifted the friendships of the Los Angeles-based “Vanderpump Rules” cast so much that Leviss took out a restraining order on her former best friend and co-star Scheana Shay for an alleged punching that took place when the affair was revealed.

Jennifer Maas TV Business Writer Food Network has renewed its latest “Baking Championship” spinoff, “Summer Baking Championship, for a second season. “Summer Baking Championship” features 10 talented bakers from around the country competing in unique summer-themed baking challenges featuring the flavors, ingredients and celebrations of the season for a chance to earn the title of Summer Baking Champion and win $25,000, per the cable channel’s official description for the competition series. The show is hosted by Jesse Palmer, with Duff Goldman, Carla Hall and Damaris Phillips serving as judges.

Kaitlan Collins will officially launch as the network’s 9 p.m. ET host on Monday with a one-hour program named The Source.

Brian Steinberg Senior TV Editor CNN may have cleared its schedule of “Reliable Sources,” but it is making lots of room for “The Source.” The new program, which will be based in New York and is slated to debut Monday, July 10, at 9 p.m. eastern, is a new hour built around up-and-coming anchor Kaitlan Collins, who has, in the space of just a few years, vaulted from White House correspondent to morning co-anchor to primetime personality. Collins has been leading CNN’s 9 p.m. hour over the past few weeks, but under a catch-all rubric of “CNN Primetime,” which also encompassed town-hall specials and deep-dive interviews with newsmakers led by others. CNN announced the new program Tuesday night during its Fourth of July coverage and musical celebration, which typically attract a broader audience than its usual weekday schedule.

According to Nielsen, the Apple TV+ title first appeared on its Streaming Top 10 list rankers midway through Season 2 in 2021. In total, it has made the overall list 11 times, and the originals list 19 times. Throughout the weekly episodic releases of Season 3, which premiered March 15, Ted has made the overall list in 9 of the 12 weeks, and has landed itself on the originals list in all 12 weeks. The finale episode, which was released on May 31, 2023, received 529 million viewing minutes by itself this week, marking the highest weekly total for a single episode of ‘Ted Lasso’ ever. Since the show was released in August of 2020, Ted Lasso has generated almost 25 billion viewing minutes in total.

In addition, Whip Media’s board of directors elected her to the board. Richard Rosenblatt, who is stepping down as CEO after serving in the role since the company was founded in October 2014 as Whipclip, has been named the board’s executive chair. Hanley joined the company in 2017 as head of sales, after it pivoted from its original video-clip sharing business model to focus on collecting user data through the TV Time app. She was named co-president of Whip Media in April 2021 alongside Rob Gardos, former CEO of Mediamorph, the provider of entertainment content distribution and tracking services that Whip Media bought in 2019. Gardos left the company last year.

The 2023 edition of the NBA Draft was the most-watched talent dispersal ever on any network, according to Nielsen. The first round averaged 4,928,000 viewers across ESPN and ABC, up 24% from last year’s first round on both platforms. It peaked with 6,085,000 viewers in the 8 p.m. ET quarter hour.

The action comedy was viewed for 1.5 billion minutes through the May 22-28 viewing window, during which it was available for four days. “S.W.A.T.” came in second place with 1.4 billion minutes viewed across Hulu, Paramount+ and Netflix after first appearing on the chart at No. 8 the week before. That viewing window coincided with CBS’ decision to cancel the series after six seasons followed by a swift reversal. The procedural is now set to the network for a seventh and final season. Third place went to another broadcast series: “All American,” the sports drama that wrapped its fifth season on the CW on May 15 before arriving in full on Netflix on May 23. The series was watched for 893 billion minutes in this viewing window, during which it was streamable for six days.

Joe Otterson TV Reporter Netflix is making a major shift in how it reports its Top 10 rankings. Starting today, the streaming giant will provide an estimated viewership for the weekly charts of its top shows and films. This will be estimated by taking the traditional hours viewed they have provided for some time and dividing by the show or film’s total runtime. In addition, Netflix will be extending the window of measurement for the most popular lists for TV and film from 28 days to 91 days. For example, Season 1 of “Wednesday” has an estimated 252.1 million views based on 1.718 billion hours viewed in the first 61 days of availability divided by its 6 hour, 49 minute runtime. This does not mean that 252 million people finished the series, however, nor does it account for anyone who rewatched within the viewing window. It was reported earlier this year that Netflix has a subscriber base of 232.5 million.

Netflix has made some big changes to the way it reports streaming viewership.

Audiences spent more time streaming in May, while broadcast and cable viewership took a bit of a nosedive, according to Nielsen’s monthly state of TV report, The Gauge.

Selome Hailu Fueled by the #Scandoval, “Vanderpump” does indeed rule: In its recently completed 10th season, the ratings for Bravo’s “Vanderpump Rules” hit extraordinary heights, especially for the current fractured television landscape. Season 10 has reached an impressive 11.4 million average viewers to date. That performance was aided especially by the first reunion episode on May 24, which reached 4.6 million viewers when accounting for Live + 3 Nielsen ratings, on-demand viewing and streaming on Peacock. That made it the most-watched Bravo episode of any series in more than nine years, and the most watched “Vanderpump Rules” episode of all time. And the third reunion special had the best first-day viewership on Peacock of any NBCU series on the platform.

Ted Lasso is moving its way up the Nielsen streaming charts.

Selome Hailu One of the most talked-about series on network television as of late has now made a showing on Nielsen’s weekly streaming rankings. “S.W.A.T.,” the CBS series starring Shemar Moore, took the No. 8 position with 625 million minutes viewed from May 15 to 21. This viewing window began one week after CBS canceled “S.W.A.T.” after six seasons on May 5 — then reversed the decision, renewing it for a seventh and final season on May 8. Additionally, much of its viewership success is likely due to the fact that the series’ first five seasons became available on Netflix on May 17, adding to the viewing hours measured on Hulu and Paramount+, where “S.W.A.T.” is also available.
