Royal baker Mark Bennett has unveiled the finished product for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee cake in a series of posts on Instagram. He revealed the lavish five tier creation just days before the long weekend of celebrations got underway, which has seen the likes of Harry and Meghan reunite with the Royal Family. Mark was 'honoured' by the opportunity to design, make and decorate the cake, which he said could not have been achieved "without the unwavering support of [his] loving wife, Emma." The cake is iced in white and topped with an edible crown, a design which is reflected in the five tiers to emulate a crown-like shape across the whole cake.

Only hours before the jubilee celebrations are due to take place at Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square in London has been evacuated by police with reports of a suspicious package being found. Eyewitnesses are said to have heard a "loud bang" but this has not officially confirmed by the Met Police. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have missed a Jubilee event to avoid “hobnobbing with the family”, it has been reported.

It was an early exit from the Queen’s thanksgiving service at St Paul’s Cathedral for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry as they opted to miss the VIP reception, according to reports.The couple were said to have been taken back to Windsor shortly after the service after the couple were faced with cheers from the crowds who’d gathered outside St Paul’s. The Queen, 96, did not attend the service due to mobility issues and Harry, 37, and Meghan, 40, who are making their first UK appearance in the UK for two years, did not opt to join the rest of the Royals at London’s Guildhall for the reception.

Platinum Jubilee celebrations for Queen Elizabeth II continue throughout the weekend with horse racing at the Derby at Epsom Downs on Saturday, June 4.
