IDLES have been announced as one of the main headliners of Creation Day Festival 2022.The festival is being curated by Creation Records co-founder Alan McGee, and had been set to debut this year before coronavirus-enforced restrictions forced its cancellation.Creation Day Festival is now aiming to debut in Wolverhampton’s West Park from May 28-29, 2022.“I’m very pleased to be asked again by the City of Wolverhampton Council and Toura Toura Festivals to curate the Utilita Creation Day Festival 2022,” McGee said in a statement.

Chris Martin has revealed that Coldplay will soon be releasing a new track called ‘Weirdo’ as part of a musical.Speaking on the You Made It Weird with Pete Holmes podcast, Martin revealed: “We have a new song called ‘Weirdo’ which has been waiting to come out for a long time because we’re doing a kinda musical and this song has been waiting for that.”He added that the track “is one of our best songs, it just hasn’t come out yet”.This wouldn’t be Coldplay’s first experience with writing for a musical. Big Red Machine‘s Aaron Dessner has discussed ‘Hutch’, a new song he wrote about the late Frightened Rabbit frontman Scott Hutchison.The track appears on ‘How Long Do You Think It’s Gonna Last?’, the recent second album by Dessner and Justin Vernon‘s band, and was written by Dessner for Hutchison, who died by suicide in 2018.“I wrote the music not long after Scott passed away and I was, like everyone, so incredibly sad,” Dessner told NME in a new interview.“I’ve lost other friends in the same way and every time you just wonder what you could’ve done differently. Could you have been more present, or checked in more?”He added: “I spoke to him two weeks before that and he was actually encouraging me to sing.

Placebo have announced an exclusive 2022 UK festival show.The group will be headlining Bearded Theory’s Spring Gathering which will take place next May, 26-29 at Catton Hall in Derbyshire.They will top the bill alongside Patti Smith and The Flaming Lips and will give fans a “‘tantalising taste of some brand-new material.”Elsewhere on the line-up are Nova Twins, The Mission, Amy McDonald and Peter Hook and The Light; more acts still to be announced.Tickets for the festival go on sale at September 11 at 9am here.
