Weezer have reportedly responded to a recent billboard stunt by buying one of their own, and leaving a message for the owners of the other billboard.As reported in the Salt Lake City Tribune, social media creator Cory Hunter Winn purchased a billboard back in June that displayed Weezer’s name.Winn co-owns a clothing store, Lucca, that sells shirts featuring the band but according to reports, he and his business partners are huge fans of the band and wanted to do something to pay homage to the band – hence buying the billboard.Now, another billboard was purchased nearby which read: “Thanks to whoever bought the billboard down the road. – Weezer.”While Weezer haven’t yet officially confirmed whether or not they bought the billboard, they did post images of both billboards on social media, captioning the post: “How it started vs how it’s going.”The band also later posted a video to TikTok with the caption: “We’re sending out a signal.

Primal Scream have collaborated with Aida Celtic FC and fashion brand A Number Of Names* (Anon*) for a new shirt to help fundraise for the refugee camp football team.The Scottish band have unveiled the “Palestinadelica” shirt, the title of which is a play on the group’s third album ‘Screamadelica‘ (1991) and Palestine, the territory where the Aida Refugee Camp is based.All proceeds from the sale of the shirt, which features the ‘Screamadelica’ artwork on the right hand shoulder and chest, will go towards helping train Aida Celtic footballers as well as provide sportswear for the refugees in Bethlehem. The 1975 frontman Matty Healy has spoken to NME about his group being “post-Arctic Monkeys” – and how they could “still be the most important band” of the decade ahead.Speaking to NME for this week’s Big Read cover story to mark the release of their fifth album, ‘Being Funny In A Foreign Language’, Healy discussed the legacy and future of The 1975, as well as how he feels about being labelled as a ‘band’.Speaking in 2018, Healy hailed Arctic Monkeys as “the band of the 2000s” with The 1975 the defining band of the 2010s. Asked today about how he felt about his group’s standing for the decade ahead, Healy replied: “I think we could still be the most important band of the ‘20s, – I’ve got a prediction that we will be, but we’re starting to get into a semantic argument”.Healy then admitted that “Arctic Monkeys are still relevant and making amazing records and are still a band” who could “always be around if they wanted to” (as well as revealing that he’s “obsessed with bands like Fontaines D.C.”), but argued that culture is no longer necessarily aligned with the idea of “white guys with guitars changing the world” and that The 1975 shouldn’t perhaps even be considered as a traditional band.“With us, you need to take us out of the ‘bands’ world and put us next to Lana [Del Rey], Taylor [Swift], Frank Ocean and Kendrick [Lamar],” he said.

Girl In Red has shared a new single produced by The National‘s Aaron Dessner – listen to ‘October Passed Me By’ below.The track, announced last week, serves as the long-awaited sequel to 2018 single ‘We Fell In Love In October’, and follows the singer’s 2021 debut album. ‘If I Could Make It Go Quiet’.In a statement about the song and its short film, Girl In Red said: “’October Passed Me By’ has been living in the back of my head since June 2021. Every fall since I put out ‘We Fell In Love In October’ in 2018, I was encouraged to do things on social media to talk about the song again.

Animal Collective have recorded a new session for SiriusXM, during which they covered Silver Jews‘ 1994 ‘Starlite Walker’ cut ‘Trains Across The Sea’.For their rendition, the experimental band spliced it up with ‘Genie’s Open’, a track which has never been officially released but has been performed live by the band on tour from as early as 2018.In clips that have not been released online, the band also played recent songs ‘Prester John’ and ‘Passer-by’, as well as ‘Merriweather Post Pavilion’ track ‘Bluish’. Arctic Monkeys have shared some new details on their upcoming track ‘Sculptures Of Anything Goes’, likening it to the sound of their hit 2013 album ‘AM’.The song will appear on the Sheffield band’s seventh studio record ‘The Car’, which is due for release on October 21 via Domino (pre-order here).During a recent interview with the Dutch radio station NPO 3FM, frontman Alex Turner said that ‘Sculptures…’ finds the Monkeys in a “different” musical landscape. “We haven’t really been to that place I don’t think, sonically,” he explained.“That [song] does remind me a little bit of some of the desert-ier side of the ‘AM’ record from 2013.

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard have released new album ‘Laminated Denim’, the second of three the ultra-prolific psych-rockers will share in October.The album was released on Wednesday (October 12), and consists of two tracks – ‘The Land Before Timeland’ and ‘Hypertension’ – both of which are exactly 15 minutes in length. ‘Laminated Denim’ serves as a spiritual successor to earlier album ‘Made In Timeland’ (which its title is an anagram of), which was released physically in March of this year before arriving digitally yesterday alongside ‘Laminated Denim’.“Like the last record, this one was created out of long improvised jams, but this time we also worked within the constraints of a ticking clock,” King Gizzard said of the new album when sharing news of its arrival on Twitter.
