The Last Dinner Party, Tyla and Peggy Gou being tipped for success next year.The other acts rounding out this year’s list are Aya Starr, Caity Baser, CMAT, Elmeine, Kenya Grace, Olivia Dean and Sekou.This year’s longlist is largely dominated by female solo acts, with strong showings for British soul and R&B and artists from Africa. It was voted for by a panel of 140 music industry experts, including representatives from Spotify, Apple Music, Glastonbury Festival, the BBC and former nominees including Jorja Smith, PinkPantheress and Tom Grennan.The winner will be revealed in the new year on BBC Radio 1, with the top five revealed in reverse order between January 1-5.

Caity Baser has been announced as a keynote interviewee at War Child’s upcoming ‘Women In Music’ day on October 9.The event comes as part of the charity’s ‘Day Of The Girl’ campaign with YouTube Music, which seeks to highlight the key issues affecting women in music. The former NME cover star will feature in the ‘Women in Music and Creative Industries Panel Day’ at Google Digital Studios, Pancras Square, London on October 9.Taking place around the UN’s International Day of the Girl Child, the event also highlights War Child’s work protecting, educating, and advocating for the rights of girls and women living in war zones.Elsewhere, as part of the campaign, Bree Runway, RØRY, Matilda Mann and Connie Constance will play intimate shows around London between October 8-12.Bree Runway and RØRY will kick off the series of shows on October 8, with the former playing Lafayette and the latter performing at 100 Club.

Fresh off the back of her first-ever Top 40 smash Pretty Boys, debut EP Thanks For Nothing, See You Never, a headline tour and collaborations with Sigala and Mae Muller and Joel Corry, Caity returns this week with Leave Me Alone.
