Two sword attackers who cut off a man’s fingers in a “cruel and sadistic” assault in the victim’s Lanarkshire home were each jailed for seven years.

Craig Jackson and Connor McDougall grabbed the victim and dragged him into a bedroom where his hand was held on the floor before two fingers were severed.A judge told the pair at the High Court in Edinburgh that they carried out “a barbaric act of assault” on him, mutilating his hand and cutting off the digits.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

Jackson, 29, and 30-year-old McDougall were earlier convicted of abducting, detaining and assaulting the victim to his severe injury and permanent disfigurement and impairment on May 16 in 2022 at his home in Linnhe Crescent, Wishaw.
