A warning has been issued that library services could be slashed without strong evidence of public support.Castle Douglas councillors spoke out after the local authority launched an online survey on Saturday.The consultation, accessed via Facebook, asks how often, where and which facilities people use at council service centres.However, paper questionnaires are not yet available to those not on social media.Councillor Iain Howie fears a low public response could be used to justify reduced opening hours or closures.And he urged anyone wishing to improve library services to complete the survey, which ends on November 27.He told the News: “We’ve experienced such closures in the region before with police stations and banks.“So if you want to
