Steve Clarke insists seeing his Scotland players and the Tartan Army reconnect in a Euros summer of love was his highlight of a momentous 2021 for the national team.
Reflecting on 12 months that saw Scotland end a 23-year wait to take their place at a major tournament and then go on to secure a World Cup play-off spot, Clarke paid tribute to the “incredible” Tartan Army.
Covid restrictions meant only 12,500 were allowed in to Hampden for European Championship clashes with Czech Republic and Croatia.
But Clarke insists his players felt the passion pouring down from the stands even though the tournament ended in disappointment.
