WAYNE Rooney yesterday admitted using eye drops to cover up the effects of his two-day benders before training. The former England and Manchester United star said he would use the drops, chewing gum and mouthwash to disguise his hangovers.

Wayne, 36, made the confession in a series of interviews to promote his new Amazon Prime documentary Rooney, which premiered in Manchester on Wednesday.

He said: “I'd get a couple of days off and I wouldn't want to be near anyone. I would sit in the house and for two days, I would just drink. “Then on the third day, when I was back in training, I would have to dust myself down and put eye drops in and get through that week’s training.

I was in a really bad place.” Drops can help make the eyes look less bloodshot. The Sun unearthed pictures from 2011 showing the star putting in eye drops while sitting in his car.
