Steve Clarke has denied he dodged a bullet in the draw for the next World Cup but admitted he was relieved to escape another showdown with England.
The national manager is already plotting a path to Qatar after seeing his side come out of the pot in Group F along with top seeds Denmark, Austria, Israel, the Faroe Islands and Moldova.
Clarke’s men avoided a string of the continent’s major powers including the likes of Germany, Spain, Belgium, France, Italy as well as Gareth Southgate’s Premier League all-stars - who are already lying in wait for a Wembley derby against Scotland in next summer’s European Championships.
