Steph McGovern underwent a smear test live on Steph's Packed Lunch today. The host sought to prove that women had nothing to fear from the test, and to stress their importance in identifying tell-tale signs of possible cancer through the procedure.
The cervical screenings are typically conducted by NHS nurses to check the health of the cervix. The procedure sees cells taken from the cervix to test for human papillomavirus (HPV), which, if found, can be treated before they get a chance to develop into cervical cancer.
