State Pension payments will rise this year but an estimated half a million people will miss out

State Pension is a lifeline for thousands of older people across the UK and the payments are set to increase in April by 2.5 per cent.

This means that those on the full, new State Pension will receive £179.60 per week from April 12, an increase of £4.40 on the current rate of £175.20.

However, it is estimated that more than 500,000 people claiming State Pension are unable to receive the annual increase each year due to where they live.
