Nova the sniffer dog is trained to track down missing pooches. The year-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier has been taught by owner Dani Birnie to locate pets that have gone astray.
And the helpful hound has become the first in Britain to be recognised as a “dog sniffer dog”, having tracked down runaways in just 20 minutes.
Dani, from Glenrothes, Fife, has helped establish a group called Search Dogs For Lost Dogs and travels the country helping heartbroken owners locate furry friends.
She said: “This is something I wanted to do because I’ve assisted with missing dog organisations for a few years. “When I got Nova as a puppy I thought it would be an asset to have a dog that could track and find other dogs.
