The SpaceX and NASA rocket launch in the US was aborted tonight just 16 minutes before the scheduled take-off time due to fears over bad weather and lightning in the flight path.
The launch would have been the first time astronauts went into space from American soil in nine years. The 'scrub' - the abandonment of the launch - was called with 16 minutes left to go in the countdown because of fears over 'strong electrical fields in the atmosphere', commentators said.
It was said, however, to have been an 'excellent dress rehearsal'. Liquid oxygen, fuel and propellant had been pumped into the tanks.
