KIDS’ TV icon Sooty is offering personalised video messages for cash — despite being mute. The veteran sock puppet joins a string of celebs selling greetings online, including Strictly’s Shirley Ballas and Corrie’s Bill Roache.
The unique messages from the soundless yellow bear and his dim doggy pal Sweep, who just squeaks, cost £35. A blurb on the Celeb VM website reads: “Sooty and Sweep would be delighted to deliver personal video messages for fans old and new.” Sooty celebrated his 70th birthday two years ago with a live show in Blackpool.
Magician Harry Corbett bought the original glove puppet from a stall in the resort for son Matthew in 1948. Sooty first appeared on telly in 1952, and was famed for doing magic tricks.
