Aberdeenshire Council, took to social media to announce her resignation from the SNP. On Friday, the SNP announced it had struck a deal with Patrick Harvie and Lorna Slater's party after weeks of negotiations following the Holyrood election in May.
The deal marks the first time ever a Green party has been in government in the United Kingdom. It also formalises the pro-independence majority in Holyrood, after the SNP fell just one seat short of an overall majority in the election, as well as solidifying a timetable for another vote.In a lengthy post Blackett said that rural jobs would be "under threat" as a result of the agreement with the Scottish Greens at Holyrood.She also mentioned a number of local issues for the reason she has stepped.
