father and son who pinched antique jade and ivory ornaments worth £1.7 million from an elderly widow's home have been jailed.
Des Pickersgill, 83, and his 41-year-old son Gary took it upon themselves to steal oriental pieces from unlocked display cabinets during visits to the woman's cottage.
A court heard how the pair then duped a top London auction house, Bonhams, into selling the pieces, which were hundreds of years old, by pretending they owned them, reports Leicestershire Live.
Des Pickersgill, from Bedford, was jailed for six years. His son was sentenced to eight years behind bars at the hearing on September 2.
