A suspected human slavery victim has died in a cannabis factory fire after being locked inside an industrial unit. The 43-year-old was one of two men who were pulled out of a burning building by fire crews on the Premier Trading Estate in Brierley Hill, West Midlands at 7.30pm on Thursday.
The victims were taken to hospital by paramedics in a serious condition, Birmingham Mail reports. One of the men died on Friday afternoon while a second man, aged in his 20s, recovered from his injuries.
He has since been discharged. Detectives believe both vulnerable men were being criminally exploited by a drugs gang having been trafficked into the UK from abroad.
