British motorsport icon Sir Stirling Moss has tragically passed away at the age of 90. The racer was described as the 'greatest to never win a world title'.
In a statement given to the Daily Mail, his wife Lady Moss said: "He died as he lived, looking wonderful. "He simply tired in the end and he just closed his beautiful eyes and that was that." Moss had suffered from a long illness and passed peacefully in the early hours of easter morning.
The veteran won 212 of his 529 races in all forms of motorsport. But Moss was forced to retire from top-level sport in 1962 after a crash left him in a coma for a month.
He was then paralysed for six months after coming round. In Formula 1, Moss recorded 16 race wins, 16 pole positions and 19 fastest
