Fife beach after bad weather saw the levels of bacteria skyrocket. Tests were carried out at the Silver Sands beach in Aberdour on August 17 and discovered a disturbingly high level of human and animal waste.
Signs were quickly put up warning residents and visitors to keep themselves and their pets out of the sea at the beauty spot.Thankfully, the levels soon dropped and repeat tests found the sea was safe again just three days later.Storm Kyle battered large parts of Scotland, bringing heavy rain and high winds which caused flash flooding in many areas.
The Scottish Environment Protection Agency confirmed the rise in bacteria levels at Silver Sands beach, which won a Keep Scotland Beautiful award in 2018.
