Perth and Kinross Council’s lack of documentation to show how around £248 million of taxpayers’ money was spent has been branded “shocking”.
Councillors could not believe PKC’s procurement process was not well documented. An internal audit of PKC’s contracting was put before a virtual meeting of the council’s audit committee on Wednesday, December 7.
The report covered the audit work for both 2019/20 and 2020/21. The 2019/20 audit reviewed contracting activity within services - including awarding and management of contracts - while the 2020/21 audit focused on how contracts were managed.But councillors were shocked at the lack of written evidence of how millions of pounds from the public purse was spent.
