Adele has made a shocking swipe at the BRIT Awards' new gender-free category change, blasting: "I’m proud to be a woman."The Hello songstress slated the new format during her gushing thank you speech, claiming that while she "understands" the change, she is still very proud to represent her gender.As the star wrapped up her acceptance speech, she said: "And also, I understand why the name of this award has changed but I really love being a woman and being a female artist, I do, I'm really proud of us, I really am, thank you so much."Fans took to Twitter to react to the controversial comments."Female it's not a dirty word the Brits and other award shows need to start using it again.
Females we exist," said one viewer. A second gushed: "Yes Adele! Slay Queen," followed by a heart emoji.During the speech the 33-year-old star also paid tribute to her fellow artists, gushing: "I genuinely can’t believe it’s my job."Oh thank you so much, this is amazing.
