'Shameful' vandals damage gravestones at cemetery in Tameside

Tameside.Officers visited Dukinfield Cemetery today (Tuesday) after reports of damage to public gravestones.They spoke to staff at the cemetery about the 'shameful' behaviour, officers from GMP Tameside North and East said.Police said they are now attempting to identify those involved and will be speaking to the council about extra security measures.

More officers will also now patrol the area in a bid to stop the vandalism.A picture of a police car outside the cemetery on Hall Green Road was posted on the GMP Tameside Facebook page today.Alongside the photo, an officer wrote: "Neighborhood officers 61266 Jackson & 70746 Hadfield attended Dukinfield Cemetery today in response to reports of damage to public gravestones.
