Queen has confirmed the UK will be treated to an extra four-day Bank Holiday next year in celebration of the monarch's Platinum Jubilee.
Her Majesty will celebrate 70 years on the throne in June 2022, with the 'once-in-a-generation' event allowing the UK two extra days off work.
The monarch will be 96 by the time the landmark is reached, making her the first sovereign to reign for seven decades, The Mirror reports.
The prolonged Bank Holiday weekend will begin on June 2 with a special Trooping the Colour parade, attended by more than 1,400 parading soldiers, 200 horses and 400 musicians.Scots will be able to apply to have street parties, with revellers allowed to celebrate the momentous occasion with neighbours.Buckingham Palace confirmed.
