sexually abusing two young boys is set to appear before an education watchdog. Ronald Burton was previously found guilty of attacking the children and handed a six year prison term at Glasgow’s High Court in 2016.
But after spending just eight months behind bars, the 65-year-old was released after an appeal against his conviction was upheld by the Court of Session in Edinburgh.
The trial judge was found to have made an error during the proceedings meaning the ex-maths teacher’s sentence was quashed.His release was branded ‘sickening’ by one of his accusers who came forward and reported the alleged abuse, which reportedly took place in the 90s, to police.Burton was also accused of sexually abusing a second school pupil between August 2013.
