coronavirus have potentially found a new symptom for the deadly disease, which infects the ear and mastoid bone of the skull.
In a small study of three patients at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, two had high viral loads of Covid-19 in the middle of their ears and behind the ear as well.
Findings suggest clinicians should look in the ears of people who present coronavirus symptoms, and surgeons swab the ears before performing otology procedures.
The study, published in JAMA Otolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery, took specimens using swabs and stored them in a solution called viral transport media.
