Special forces legend Rusty Firmin says SAS: Who Dares Wins is miles away from the real battle to get into the regiment. The former SAS trooper, who made his name in the 1980 Iranian Embassy siege, is angry only one of the TV show’s instructors served in the unit.
Rusty, 70, asked: “How can you have a reality show when three out of the four guys have never done it?” Instructor Mark “Billy” Billingham served in the SAS for 27 years and won an MBE for a rescue mission in Iraq.
He was also a bodyguard for Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. Chief instructor Ant Middleton and colleagues Jason Fox and Ollie Ollerton were all in the Royal Marines’ Special Boat Service.
