A hostage freed from the Iranian embassy by the SAS in 1980 has recalled the terrifying moment his captors told him that they would kill one person every half an hour.

Former BBC sound recordist Sim Harris appeared on Good Morning Britain today as he met his rescuer, SAS team leader Rusty Firmin, for the first time.

From 30th April until 5th May 1980, a group of six armed men stormed the Iranian embassy in South Kensington. The gunmen took 26 people hostages and demanded the release of Arab prisoners from prisons in Khuzestan as well as safe passage outside of the UK.

However negotiations turned fraught on the sixth day as one hostage, Abbas Lavasani, was killed and the body was thrown out of the window.
