Travel firms are slashing prices by up to two thirds to tempt nervous passengers into booking late summer breaks, insiders reveal.

Experts say holidaymakers are in for a bargain bonanza once lockdown restrictions are eased as airlines and tour operators will be keen to fill seats and hotels.

With red-hot deals already up for grabs in July and August, as the Government looks into setting up air bridges to popular destinations, hopes of a summer break in the sun have been revived again.

Travel consultant Paul Charles said: “Airlines will be looking to pump-prime the market, which will result in a flood of cheap seats as they try to persuade people to fly again.” Budget airlines have already sparked a price war.
