Roy Keane's Manchester United career came to a spectacular end with the midfielder's contract being torn up, but Keane has only one regret - apologising to Sir Alex Ferguson.Back in 2005, Keane - then a hard-tackling midfielder - gave a no-holds-barred interview to MUTV after a stinging 4-1 defeat at the hands of Middlesbrough. The contents of the interview were so controversial that the tape was apparently destroyed, though reports suggest four copies remain locked away at Old Trafford.Ferguson claims Keane launched into a tirade of abuse at his team-mates, and believes the midfielder "overstepped the line" with his criticism.

Keane, on the other hand, believes the incident was blown out of proportion. The interview was removed from the MUTV schedule after Ferguson saw it, and very few people know what was actually said.

However, the United squad at the time decided to huddle together and watch the footage.Days later, Keane was called into Ferguson's office to discuss his future, and asked to be let go by the club.

The manager was only too happy to oblige, agreeing to pay out the remainder of his contract and organise a testimonial game for him, which was played at the end of the season.Keane later explained that he apologised to Ferguson and his assistant, Carlos Queiroz, for his role in the incident.
