A collision between a van and car is believed to have happened near the junction of Fairfields at around 1.20am, with the stretch of the road between Smith Lane and Arnold Road closed.
Greater Manchester Police, North West Ambulance Service and Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service are all at the scene of the incident.
