Renfrew care home residents enjoy special visit from four-legged friend

A Renfrew care home was paid a special visit from a friendly four-legged companion.Milo the dog brought smiles to the faces of residents at Craigielea Care Home as he bounded up as he bounded up to each staff member and resident for a warm cuddle and a treat.His visit was organised as part of the home’s pet therapy programme, designed to encourage residents to stay active and socialise with each other. His visits have helped residents, particularly those who live with dementia or learning disabilities, engage with life and activities in the home.Those who are able, even take him on a walk through the local neighbourhood.Sheila Inshaw, Service Manager at Cragielea Care Home said: “You feel the difference immediately when Milo walks through the door.“He gets everyone up from their chairs, chatting to each other and throwing a ball down the corridors for him to fetch.

It’s great fun for all our residents, who love it when Milo hops onto their laps for a hug.”And Jodie Canavan, Activities Coordinator at Cragielea Care Home added: “It’s more than a year now since Milo’s first visit and they can’t get enough of him.
