The family discovered that the property is a favourite nesting spot for Herring Gulls - notoriously aggressive when protecting their eggs and chicks.Nicki said: "It’s very stressful for us as a family.

On school days, Dave has to go outside first and open the car door so that Katrina can dash outside without being attacked."On Monday (June 27) their postman was dive-bombed.

Even their dog - Jessie, a fully-grown Staffie Collie mix - isn't immune."She’s a big, strapping dog but she’s terrified of them," said Nicki.Things came to a head for the Bakers this year when a chick fell from the roof, injuring its wing."The parents seemed to blame us and the dog," said Nicki. As well as dive-bombing victims to protect their young, seagulls will defecate and vomit on anyone they see as a threat.A roofer has twice refused to repair the home for fear of being attacked and the family must now endure leaks as well as the territorial birds with 6ft wingspans.Seagulls are protected by law and it is illegal to remove their eggs, or to disturb their nests, once they have begun nesting.
