Police should only enforce ‘egregious breaches’ of Christmas bubble rules, Priti Patel said today. The Home Secretary said officers could issue fines against those who break the law allowing up to three households to meet from December 23-27.
People can face £200 fines in England or £60 in Wales. But asked if this would mean pursuing a family who had one too many uncles to stay, she told LBC: “We do not need to get involved in any of that at all.” Instead she suggested police action should be reserved for things like raves and house parties.
