"British AC plugs and sockets are very different from a lot of the other plugs and sockets sets around the world and they're super different to what we're used to in North America," he said. "This plug and this socket may just be the best designed set in the entire world."The British 240V plug and socket isn't the most widely used, but it is found in other countries where the British Empire used to get up to its dirty old tricks, from Ireland and Singapore to Hong Kong and India.

Nils points out some things Brits just take for granted, like a long earth pin and insulation at the top of the plug to stop people getting electrocuted.

Meanwhile, fuses built into the 'planet-sized' plug itself means that an appliance can't blow a building's entire circuit.Brits took to the comments to share their views on a rare bit of external validation for their country. "As British born, London in 1985, and an electrician since I was 18 I can confirm we do have great plugs," said one commenter.Others shared their painful experiences of British.
