2017’s “War For The Planet Of The Apes” marked the end of Matt Reeves’ “Planet Of The Apes” reboot trilogy (started by filmmaker director Rupert Wyatt). Great news, “Predator” fans: a new pic in the franchise is on the way. And no, it’s not “Prey 2,” although that’s still very much in development.

That tentpole blood bath that was to occur over Memorial Day weekend between 20th Century Studios’ Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes and Warner Bros/Village Roadshow’s Furiosa is no longer: The former Apes reboot is now shifting two weeks earlier to May 10.

20th Century Studios announced today that its Predator spinoff Prey has notched the #1 premiere on Hulu to date, across all of the streamer’s films and television series. The film also registered as the most-watched premiere on Star+ in Latin America and Disney+ under the Star Banner in all other territories, based on hours watched in the first three days of its release. Specific stats as to its viewership have not been disclosed.

20th Century Studios announced today that its action-thriller Prey, marking the newest entry in the Predator franchise, will debut exclusively on Hulu in the U.S. on August 5th, unspooling as a Star+ Original in Latin America, and as a Star Original on Disney+ in all other territories.

On Disney+ Day, the studio announced that its new Predator movie was set to drop in summer 2022, and will be entitled Prey. For some time, the pic was shot under the title Skulls. 

Predator franchise is in the works, with director Dan Trachtenberg confirming his involvement.The new project would mark Trachtenberg’s second feature film to date, following 2016’s 10 Cloverfield Lane. Other directorial credits from the American filmmaker include episodes of Black Mirror and The Boys.According to The Hollywood Reporter, Patrick Aison (Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, Kingdom, Wayward Pines) is on board to write the screenplay.
