Elle Fanning is reportedly being lined up to play the lead role in Badlands, the latest entry in the Predator film series.Earlier this year, it was confirmed that there was a new entry in the franchise on the way named Badlands. Dan Trachtenberg (10 Cloverfield Lane), who directed 2022’s Prey, will also helm the new film, which he has co-written as an original screenplay with Patrick Aison.

Prey, the latest Predator film, has received rave reactions from critics ahead of its release on Disney+.A prequel to the first four instalments of the Predator franchise, the film takes place in the Comanche Nation in 1975, as a highly skilled warrior protects her tribe from an evolved alien that hunts humans for sport.Prey is directed by Dan Trachtenberg (10 Cloverfield Lane), who introduced the film to crowds at Comic-Con on Thursday, July 21.Those who have seen the film have since been sharing their glowing reviews on social media, with many describing it as the best Predator movie since the 1987 original with Arnold Schwarzenegger.Collider critic Perri Nemiroff wrote: “#Prey is my favorite Predator movie. (Coming from someone who’s a big fan of the original and also 2010’s Predators.) Love how the story is a deeply personal journey — one powered by Comanche tradition just as much as it is by Predator-sparked thrills.”“Prey is exactly what fans want in a Predator movie — bloody deaths, insane weapons, and ties to other films in the franchise.

Predator prequel film Prey, due to arrive later this summer.Directed by Dan Trachtenberg (10 Cloverfield Lane), the film focuses on the character Naru (played by indigenous actor and Legion star Amber Midthunder), who wants to “prove her worth as a warrior”.The full synopsis reads: “Set in the world of the Comanche Nation 300 years ago, the action-thriller follows Naru, the skilled warrior who fiercely protects her tribe against a highly evolved alien predator.”The video shows Naru attempting to evade a bear, before the creature is killed and dragged away by an invisible entity. “Whatever did this,” she says towards the end of the clip, which features a number of high-octane action sequences, “I can kill it.”Watch the trailer below.  Prey‘s filmmakers were committed to creating an accurate portrayal of the Comanche – and as such, the film features a Native Comanche producer (Jhane Myers) and a cast made up almost entirely of Native and First Nations actors, including Midthunder, Dakota Beavers, Stormee Kipp, Michelle Thrush, and Julian Black Antelope (per Hollywood Reporter).Prey will be the fifth main entry into the Predator franchise, which began with the Arnold Schwarzenegger 1987 film, followed by 1990’s Predator 2, 2010’s Predators and 2018’s The Predator. The series has also crossed over with the Alien franchise in 2004 film Alien vs.
