Marvel actor David Dastmalchian has revealed his career ambition is to play Batman’s nemesis The Joker.Speaking to Collider at the recent Saturn Awards, the actor confessed he would love to take on the role made famous by Jack Nicholson, Heath Ledger, and Joaquin Phoenix among others.“I know we’re just kidding around here, but I would love it” he said, before explaining: “I think some people go ‘Hamlet is my life’s quest,’ or ‘Willy Loman is my life’s quest.’ Getting to put on the makeup of the Clown Prince of Crime at some point in my lifetime is up there next to one of my greatest career dreams, which is to be an enemy of James Bond.”Dastmalchian came close to his dream in 2008, when he played a henchman for Ledger’s Joker in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight. In Batman TV show Gotham, he also played the character of Dwight Pollard, who was a disciple of Jerome Valeska (Cameron Monaghan), a version of The Joker within the show.A talented character actor, he has played many roles across the Marvel and DC Universes.

Dune: Part Two have been celebrating after it won the Grammy for Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media last night (February 2).The victory for the space epic’s soundtrack, composed by Hans Zimmer, came its disqualification from the Oscars after it was ruled ineligible due to the amount of music it carried over from the first Dune movie.The rules from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which presents the Oscars, state: “In cases such as sequels and franchises from any media, the score must not use more than 20% of pre-existing themes and music borrowed from previous scores in the franchise.”Dune 2 was still eligible for Grammy nominations, however, and it beat out American Fiction, Challengers, The Color Purple and Shōgun for the accolade. Also last night, it won five awards at the 52nd annual Saturn Awards.Fans of the movie had a lot to say in response, with one on X (Twitter) describing it as having been “robbed” of an Oscar.

Joel McHale hosted the event for the third year in a row, with this year’s edition dedicated to the memory of Titanic and Avatar producer Jon Landau, who passed in 2024.In the main film awards, Dune: Part Two was a big winner with wins for Best Science Fiction Film, Film Direction, Production Design, Visual Effects, and Best Supporting Actress for Rebecca Ferguson.Nicolas Cage won Best Actor in the film categories, using his acceptance speech to pay tribute to director David Lynch and speak out against Artificial Intelligence.In the television awards, Fallout took home the Best Science Fiction Television Series award, with House Of The Dragon winning for Best Fantasy Series.
