Due to poor road conditions and decreased visibility, the men's trucks collided. Ladd ended up breaking his neck in two places."Evidently one of the two fractures was very close to being catastrophic," she said in a March 15 blog post, adding that doctors used "some rods and other hardware" to stabilize him.
